Motivation letter: Explain the reasons and motivations that drive your application, and your aspirations relating to the ideals of Auroville
Auroville is my home and it’s community my family.
I am here to offer my best when it comes to supporting and working towards human unity along with Council.
Am a planner and a doer and have always believed in team work! I believe I could be that one reliable pillar of the Council who could assist and keep up the commitment in organising activities for the Residents assembly and standing up in times of need along with the team.
Please share a resume of your experiences (work, life experiences, internships, group participation, etc.) inside and outside of Auroville. Please describe your teamwork experience
I came to Auroville in 2013 and began my service at NESS school in Aspiration community. Prior to this I had been working as a school principal for twelve years outside Auroville.
As time rolled on, I found myself volunteering in various events like the Auroville marathon, cleaning the city, Mothers birthday, Sri Aurobindos birthday at Matrimandir, selection process earlier, 50th Auroville birthday and many other programs. I was also a part of the restorative circle and conflict resolution team that was created years ago for a small period. I have volunteered in taking interviews with some of the Mothers disciples like Vardharajan
and Mahalingam and wrote for Art for land. It was a big opening for me to understand and educate myself on the Mothers dream for Auroville. I have always been helping few Aurovilians , volunteers and newcomers in writing proposals or official emails to the working groups. I have interviewed many other Aurovilians and have been quite inspired by their journey to Auroville. I have gone through several workshops like the stewardship program with Monica Sharma, nonviolence communication, oneness program that takes place at Nainital and many more.
After Ness I worked in units like Unity Pavilion and Verite gaining different skills and experiences. Presently I am offering my services at Arulvazhi, an outreach after school learning unit, that was named and blessed by the Mother. Here we offer different learning activities to the rural children including yoga and sports too.
I was lucky enough to have mentors who were like the gateways to Auroville. The one and a half year I spent with them was like a gurukul exploring many sections of Auroville and what it meant to being an Aurovilian. After each interaction I have felt closer to the Mother and her teachings in many ways.
Since last year, there has been a change in me. I feel more responsible towards my city and my people than earlier. It might have been joining the Town hall Council watch room, the Residents sos group, the Wednesday community meetings,
being a part of organising a community event or the call for organisation I just know I need to give myself and be there for the community.
Auroville has been a university to me and me a learner progressing under Her guidance.
Please describe your skills, domain of expertise, specific interests etc. If applying for a specialist role, kindly highlight your relevant skills and experience
I am confident and a people’s person. I have always been successful in working within a team in harmony and peace. Am good and fluent in English and Hindi. My Tamil is reasonable. I am passionate about any work that’s given to me and I believe in giving my best to it. I am organised and have good writing skillsskills and tech friendly. Time manangement has always been my plus point.
I have worked as an admin most of my life. I love organising events and keeping up any commitment I take up at work and believe in giving space to each other in the team. I do not have stage fear and am trust worthy.

Motivation letter: Explain the reasons and motivations that drive your application, and your aspirations relating to the ideals of Auroville
I have been for 10 years in AV. Through these years I got to understand the community and its challenges.
The professional background from “my previous life” can be useful to support the mandate of the Council.
The inner work I have been doing for the last 20 years, and the study of Sri Aurobindo I have been pursuing since I came to Auroville, could add roots to the service of this group for the community.
Please share a resume of your experiences (work, life experiences, internships, group participation, etc.) inside and outside of Auroville. I worked for about 12 years as computer engineer and consultant. As a software engineer (SW) we had to understand the requirements and problems of the client and develop practical SW solution. As consultant I worked helping SW organisations to implement quality systems (ISO 9001, EFQM, …). based on processes. So, I have experience in finding practical solutions to problems, designing processes and how to introduce change in organisations.
I have been Ayurvedic practicioner, yoga teacher and Cranio sacral therapist since 2000.
Please describe your skills, domain of expertise, specific interests etc. If applying for a specialist role, kindly highlight your relevant skills and experience
I have experience analysing complexities in the operational functioning of organisations and providing improvement ideas: the links between the different components with their unique characteristics and requirements, the dynamics and flows, the fundamental consideration of the human aspect for the functioning of the organisation as a whole…
I see Auroville needs alignment with the Charter and the Dream in order to join our wills to serve the purpose and the rational for us being here: human unity
During these 10 years in AV I have undergone personal challenges that made transformation. Now i feel I am prepared to offer my skills for the service to the community.

It is interesting to know people’s goodwill to join Auroville and it is opportunity to learn from different age group and nationality. At the same time we exchange each other aspirations relating the ideal of Auroville.
Auroville being seen as “the place of an unending education” , so every day I am learning from others.
I worked at Entry Service from 2010 to 2012 (2 years). Due to the health issue of my colleagues (Barbara at Matrimandir’ offering desk) I stopped before my term over. As a team work spirit we communicate, integrate, respect, equally sharing and listening in harmony, and take Decisions in maintaining peace in a collaborative way.
Please share a resume of your experiences (work, life experiences, internships, group participation, etc.) inside and outside of Auroville. Please describe your teamwork experience
I came to Auroville in 1985, i studied in last school and i offered my service on sports ground with auroville school children in the afternoons. I also offered my service to involve in concrete work in the construction of Matrimandir and painting clamps on week ends.
I Joined Auroville in 1987 and worked 35 years in Matrimandir’s offering desk.
Also I did service in visitors center, free store. I have been giving volunteer service in Farewell team for the last 7 years.
I was inspired by the Auroville charter’, collective work of building Matrimandir, and international town ship.
I worked at the Entry Service from 2010 to 2012 (2 years). In that period, I learned team work of sharing & listening from the experienced aurovilians.
Whenever and whatever happens the team spirit is important to carry the work in harmonious way without ego, without being bias that I learned in last 35 years work experience in different places like Entry Service, Matrimandir, Auroville Today, Free store, Visitors center’s cafeteria, etc.
Please describe your skills, domain of expertise, specific interests etc. If applying for a specialist role, kindly highlight your relevant skills and experience
Before coming to Auroville, I worked 5 years in a hospital (Kasturiba hospital in Dindugal District). I was doing record clerk, first aid, managing outpatient department. I am by nature so patient, calm and caring.
I studied typing after completing my school. Mauna taught me the administration work at Matrimandir.
In 2010, Cecilia, Rakhee, Kalsang, Ross, Bhuvana (many more) taught me to take interviews of the new Aurovilians. I also learned from them how to interact with people in such a way that they will open their heart and feel confortable to share their stories with me.

This is the second time that I am nominated and again this time, I have decided to accept because I received lately many messages from Aurovilians saying that I have the qualities or the skills to make a difference and consequently encouraging me to postulate.
I just hope this time that the selection committee won’t put so much emphasis on the administrative dimension but more on the necessity to have a team in place that will reflect the strong values of Auroville whatever the actual administration think about that. This is the most important tool that Auroville possess to manifest the quality of our future brothers and sisters and not their quantity.

I am known here in Auroville as a Glass Artist, a teacher to the youth… in my previous life in Canada, I was in the hospitality business, creating and operating many concepts of cafe, restaurant and bars and many experiences with Human Resources and evaluation of general and speciality workers.
Here in Auroville my interest in governance and the ways to improve our community life is quite active.
I also had the chance and opportunity to be mentor on numerous occasion (9 time) and this has given me a good perspective on the Entry Board and Service.

I have always had a great interest for newcomers :
These fresh gazes coming from the world at large, bearing the colours from outside of Auroville and bringing their fresh eyes and contributions to the City the Earth Need.
Since I came back to Auroville in 2007 I felt that a particular attention should be given them and it happen-ed that I have been participating in the first session of the program which was created in November 2009.
Since them I have been constantly taking care of these programs together with a small team of Aurovilians colleagues.
They have become so appreciated and felt useful that they has been made compulsory in the Entry Process in 2017 under the name of Yucca.
I Recently stepped back from the front line of this activity while still being part of the team as an adviser.
Today the situation need even more our attention as it is the only prerogative that the Foundation Act is clearly giving to the Residents’ Assembly. .. and this is under the threat of a take over in disguise.
It is also the time for implementing more sincerely the Truth of Auroville in all the fields of our collective life.
I wish to bring my experience of welcoming Newcomers and my aspiration to progress in the team taking care of the admission of newcomers.
Please share a resume of your experiences (work, life experiences, internships, group participation, etc.) inside and outside of Auroville. Please describe your teamwork experience
All is contained in the service provided by the Aspiration programs until 2017, the Yucca program and welcome talk since then.
This work has always been more than an activity, it has been a complete life experience and a factor of personal progress. Ironically, I use to murmur to myself that I have been the one learning the most during this repeated sessions for newcomers over one and half decade.
The team work has always been essential for quality of this activity; team work amongst the few facilitators in charge bt also with the punctual speakers/contributors coming to bring their knowledge and testimony.
I am quite proud to have been able to step down from the main role of this activity with a smooth transition and in harmony with the team which has taken up the task to further it.
For me that is the summum of team spirit.

…a strong sense of community and service 🙂
I strongly resonate with Auroville main motto: Unity in Diversity ; as hard as it is to manifest it on this Earth I think we are given a blessed chance.
The EB should secure that this motto is embodied in it’s mandate and functioning.
Please share a resume of your experiences (work, life experiences, internships, group participation, etc.) inside and outside of Auroville. Please describe your teamwork experience
I’ve been living in Auroville most of my adult life.
I have worked in Services: Residence Service (9 months), Nandini (1 year), Savi (8 Years), HRHub (1 year and ongoing)
in Farm and Forests : Buddha Garden, Solitude, Baraka.
and in a Guest House (10 years and ongoing) where I presently offer Shiatsu Therapy and I am in charge of the coordination of the Therapies/activities.
Most of the time I split my time with multiple projects so I can enjoy a variety of tasks… 🙂
I have engaged on multiple other projects of shorter duration and for specific tasks….
Please describe your skills, domain of expertise, specific interests etc. If applying for a specialist role, kindly highlight your relevant skills and experience
The Entry Board needs people that are comfortable in interviewing, being impartial (unbiased) and putting people at ease so that they can share their very personal stories, challenges and aspiration in front of a group of strangers….I think I would be good at doing that as I can easily take the role of an interviewer ….
My communication skills (verbal) are relatively polished 🙂
Written and spoken English – good. Additional languages – Italian and Croatian.
Computer skills: word, google drive, excel – good ; and basic WordPress….
…other skills that might not be relevant for this particular position
Observation:
While working in a group of people where there is no hierarchical distribution of roles/tasks, I feel that communication needs to be assisted by a professional Facilitator in order to have certain guidelines respected and established… This is not something necessary in for every meeting but definitely something that needs to happen in order for a group of people to function as a Team.
