Born and Brought up Auroville Child. I studied B.E. Mech. Engin and Dip. in Marine. I worked in Dubai for one year in an oil tanker. After getting back I did some office work in Mumbai. I worked as a watchman at Pour Tous Water for one year, was also helping there when the staff were of shortage in morning work.

Now I am working Selvam Multipurpose Unit, Auroville. I am willing to serve Auroville, waiting for the opportunity and I am also trying to get any work. So, that I can serve Auroville in a better way as best as I could.

Pour Tous started as a prosperity service For All. There is no cash exchange, In-Kind get things food, soap, oil, cloth for the Aurovilians. Basic needs provide to live in Simple life.

The principal aim of Auroville is to realize Human Unity creating a new kind of society structured under values (by creating services where we just to be open to help the community and fulfil the community needs) oriented to reach its objective.

As far as I understood that Pour tous was created to fulfil the needs of an Aurovilian by supplying all the necessary items which they really needed to survive and live the life and the aim is not to turn Auroville into a market economy and make a business of everything but one in which the material needs of all would be provided for without money circulation.

Since I would consider myself as a sincerity person, I would listen to others carefully and try to solve the problem if any, and I have the ability to work harmoniously within a team.

Yes, since I have been working in Aureka which is one of the big companies in Auroville where more than 70 people work together, I have a capability to work with the team.

Before coming to AV in September 2019, I’ve been consulting not for profits and startups for a decade around business process improvements – mainly in the areas of finance and operations.

As a recent newcomer and volunteer, I have been exploring different possibilities to learn about AV and have a diverse range of experiences. As a volunteer, I started as a volunteer with:
1. October 2019 to March 2020: Build a platform for projects to raise money from institutional donors.
2. January 2020 – present: Botanical services: Improve accounting and book keeping processes.
3.January 2020 to present: Other small projects
a) Enabled digital systems for ITS to accept phone-based payments,
b) Assisted in creating a marketing platform for Art for land in January 2020.
c) Assisted in initiating a mobile-based Aurocard system for guests and volunteers.

a) The ideals of a service emphasize on meeting the essential needs of the community in a manner that isn’t profit-oriented, yet seeks to deliver an essential need without compromising on quality.
b) As per my understanding, the aim of Pour tous is to provide Auroville with food and groceries (essentials) at reasonable prices without sacrificing on quality.

Yes. I feel aligned with the vision of Pour tous. However, I believe there’s a lot to do in order to tie the knots together. First and foremost:
1. Is to recognize and price essential goods reasonably “for all” to afford
2. Create a robust supply chain between pour tous and AV units/farms – a win-win situation for suppliers and consumers.
3. Build processes around accounting, HR, sourcing, pricing and inventory management.
4. Design a structure that can keep the unit financially healthy while also serving the needs of the community.

For me, team spirit means aligning towards one single goal/vision. Team spirit best resonates itself through sports, where the teams performance is put before individual performance and that’s how I have experienced it.

My knowledge is intuitive and in a way I always felt I would like to provide a service to fellow Aurovillians and not to have a business unit on Kuliapaliyam for example, I wanted at the time to do it at Vc upstairs but then the covid started and i left Vc temporary, but then few months after there was not so much to come back to.

During this Covid period, I had lots of thinking and it became clear for me that my approach and vision about finding ways of providing local nourishing food with affordable prices in our community without the operations of a big restaurant, a communal space to share local, basic, nourishing, beautiful food- is the right thing in the right time.

I am interested in collaborations and team work. I would like to offer my experience, my creativity and culinary skills.

Yes. Team sports like basketball, relay races taught me team spirit, 4 flower exhibitions with 4-5 member core team and dozens of volunteers made me utilise it. Working with Covid Task Force members and with all the units also helped me in this critical area.

i worked in health center for 21 years, by communicating with villagers I built 6 sub-health center, 4 over tanks, 11 common toilets in the government schools.

Health center – 21 years — worked without any extra wages /extra maintenance for my night duty while my non aurovillian colleges got a settlement of 4 lakhs plus yearly bonus.
Land board – 4 year (as resource person) worked in field work, without claiming any personal voucher; by my communicating talent, i cleared 63 land issues by only means of talk. even though, i am struggling for my maintenance for 3 years. Never our human unit is going to consider it. whenever i am struggling financial, always my parents are supporting me.

The purpose of Pour Tous was created by the Auroville community. It is service unit of common for all Auroville.
Its service unit have been providing the best quality and real price of all the essential materials were timely for all Aurovilians to get at one place.
I will follow its real purposes of guidelines and make sure the pour tous is a service unit of the Auroville community and I bring its task contribution for all.
Go directly purchasing day by day good quality materials, fresh vegetables, fruits and dry goods at whole sale market.
I will be maintaining pour tous service towards better development and transform workers discipline to work happily in the field of service with their encouragement all.

Yes, I am having the needed qualification and competence since I had wonderful experience of coordinating at water service in 2001 to 2010 account keeping, bill collection and coordinating the work and in Eco Service 2010 to 2015 I had maintained regular work of in collecting waste from Auroville communities, I have worked in a Auromode garments preparing bar code items fixed and maintain the stock and send items to the shops.

I have been working in Auroville for 20 years, starting in the AV Archives and followed by setting up an Auroville unit, Easy Procurement Solutions (EPS), which is a collective purchasing service. l also started Prime C in 2016, an Auroville commercial unit focused on consulting. I have grown up in Auroville since my childhood.

Auroville Archives is a service where I have worked for 12 years (from Feb. 2006 to Sep. 2017). Apart from this I have also been involved in ICC (Internal Complaints Committee) as a member and as an arbiter in the Arbiter’s Pool. I helped to start EPS in April 2017 and have continued to manage all aspects of running the unit till date.

In Auroville, services are aimed at serving the needs of the community first. In my understanding, the aim of Pour Tous is to reliably provide basic groceries to the community at the best price possible.

Went to Mitra Auroville diamond cutting and polishing 2013 to 2017, Udavi school teaching sports 2016 to 2017, went to tree care for 1 year 2017 to 2018and then now working at la ferme cheese factory 2018 till now. Have done frisbee coaching for 10 years in Auroville for free. Have helped with lights and stage setup at the bharat nivas auditorium for many years as a contribution to the community for most of the shows since 2010 to 2018.

We 3 youths of Auroville understood the meaning of service. When we got fed up with ptps being so high on all essential and started a service for the community called basket service. Before covid we this was a really welcomed from Aurovillians. We got everything they wanted and only took. Delivery charge and didn’t put any margin. we also tried this service for 1 year along with our daily work and fulfilled the needs of people in Auroville.

Since I was born and brought up in Auroville. I am 100% genetically a child of Auroville from the womb of Auroville. I have strong sence of community life as I was raised from birth of this community, rooted to its Ideal. What I am today is the reason that my community has allowed me to grow and learn and identify my potentials. I will love to give back my skills towards Her Service!
I have my experience of coming from a poor financial background who’s income was depending on the maintenance. It was always difficult for my mom to provide us our basic needs. I feel that Auroville still has these kind of people and also people with different background who need a Pour Tous that will serve them in the best way possible to give them a different price than the outside world. We all need a change in our economy as we are working towards a sustainable lifestyle without worrying and making profit out of our fellow Aurovilians who live here with maintenance.

“My name is Prabhu, I had done my education in Auroville School and never had any chance to go out to study in an educational institutions that provide a diploma or degree. Nor did I train myself in one type of skill work.
When I left school, My first job I was offered was to take incharge of gas bottle delivery in Pour Tous. I was never expecting anything in life more than a place to discover of my own skills or to learn new things as this is what Auroville stands for and has taught me. Specially for me! For I believe Auroville is my home and the people who I encountedred in my life are my family.
It wasn’t so easy to find a job that was something I loved when I started as a beginner. Rather, I found something to do what was given to me. I didn’t fail to do so, because I believe that everything is for good and every stepping stone is an opportunity that will allow you to lean and grow.
From my first job I had people in the management of Pour Tous who saw my interest of learning and gave me more task which I was perfectly able to do. I was doing the whole Purchase (preparing the monthly purchase list, meeting suppliers, negotiating prices, maintenaning relationship, finding good quality products at lower prices and comparing with local market and pricing. I somehow grew more skillful and was able to adopt to anything that was challenging for me as i took it as a learning opportunity.
Similarly I was being in the management team though I was not an Executive but got involved with the maintenance work and man power. I was involved in the Shopping Sevice and Gas Service when Pour Tous was in the same premise.
Later due to the new Team (Kala and Kumar), I didn’t feel welcomed or was appreciated for my work and with their interest to take over my work responsiblities, I was forced to quit and take over the Gas Service as I’ve been managing it Seperately after it got build in the Service Area. After few years of taking care of Gas Service, I had to leave Auroville for a short time to do an self assesment and have a break.
I wanted to find something that was more challenging and what I would enjoy doing. Finally I found a job new job in Financial Service where I could meet new people and expose myself to a different work culture. I have been remaining now almost 10 years in Financial Service and I will like to come back to what I was good at and give my work experience again to Pour Tous for Community, For All !!! Towards the Service and not as a commerical bussiness of any individuals. ”

I find comfortable to work in a team as I always believe it helps to get best results. I feel it allows us to share different ideas, strategies and experience and leaves room to learn from each other. Its what I was learning at my school and work always.
My experiences at Pour Tous to change the whole suppliers from Pondy to Tamil Nadu was a challenging task as we had to have the flow of products without closing our service and to shift the whole purchase to avoid double tax system when VAT came. We had to even change the name for audit reason from Pour Tous to PTPS

I feel that community service gives me a sense of pride that I am able to enhance and empower another individual, family and the Community at large. My work experience in Auroville has always been an opportunity for me to learn and I have overcome different challenges but most of all that, I’m thankful for the help I had received from lots of people to integrate into this beautiful community. I wish to have the chance for me to participate and contribute my skills for this service as an offering back. I joined Auroville for its community spirit and how it grew from barren lands. It’s only because our pioneers had not thought about having something to take but to offer to this lands that such beauty was able to establish and nourish till now. We need more services in our community to be more self sustainable and that people could use such service and avoid using outside service.

I like to work in a team as I believe that it allows people to share their work experience and knowledge. This allows everyone to achieve better outcome and this is very essential in a service. I have worked in units and cafes where we all share responsibilities and replace each other so our work is continued and doesn’t get stopped.

I took full care of Well Cafe when the executive was out of town and was responsible of the accounting and administration such as staffs, customers, suppliers, inventory, pricing, billing and taking care of the shop. Similarly in all my jobs, I always took care of the management of employees and maintain work records.

My whole work in Auroville is always in service sector only, so I am well aware of Pour Tous.

1. pazamudhir cholai to distribute vegetables and fruits to Pour tous.
2. vanavile worked as screen printing and purchase work.
3. Tanto working as purchase groceries and all daily needs from pondy and pick up.
